The newly built Ulubisi House represents the most exclusive accommodation offering on Gondwana Game Reserve. This award-winning 27,000 acre, Big Five, private reserve is located on South Africa’s Garden Route. Named after the endangered Black Harrier frequently seen hunting in the grasslands surrounding the private lodge, this exclusive use safari villa presents the perfect venue to share an exciting safari adventure with friends and family. Its design serves a dual purpose. While acting as a safari retreat for its American owners who are a retired couple, it is also the ultimate privately staffed villa available for rent to groups of guests, with your own chef, butler and game ranger at your disposal. The challenge was to ensure that the space was intimate and homely for the owners, yet spacious and impressive for those renting. Consequently, the developers skillfully incorporated the large scale, modern African structure made of stone, wood and thatch into the natural environment by breaking up the roofline and sinking the structure into the landscape. Its layout, style and décor have been carefully selected to remain true to the glorious safari setting. There are three spacious bedrooms suites and an enormous double volume living space with seating and dining areas overlooking an open grassy expanse. Generous wraparound terraces and living areas open up to the landscape and embrace the surrounding bush, inviting it into the spacious interiors.
